Inglewood United pair Andrija Jukic and Teeboy Kamara played their part in this evening’s historic 2-1 win by the State team over Perth Glory. All three goals came late in the piece with Alec Solomons and Ludovic Boi putting Western Australia in a commanding position before Sidnei Sciola pulled a goal back under lights at Dalmatinac Park. It was the State’s first win over Glory since 2008, and only their second in eleven meetings between the two teams.
Jukic is one of two players to feature in both wins by the State over Glory. “It’s definitely an honour to be selected in the State team, there can only be a select few and to be a part of it is great,” said the midfielder, who entered the action ten minutes into the second half. “It was an exciting game, everyone work real hard all night and we got a great result against a strong Glory side who I think will do very well this year.”
Former Adelaide United striker Kamara played the opening 45 minutes of last night’s friendly. “It was a privilege being selected for Western Australia, and to be playing with Todd Howarth, Dean Evans and the like is a huge honour,” said Kamara, who joined Inglewood in late March after a lengthy absence from the game. “After almost three years with no football, it’s amazing to be back again … hopefully next year I go on to bigger and better things.”
