Inglewood United will be well represented when the Junior National Premier Leagues Top Four Cup kicks off this weekend with three of our five teams qualifying for this year’s finals. The Junior Top Four Cup commences on Sunday, 28 August, with games across the age groups throughout the morning at Beale Park in Spearwood.
Inglewood’s Under-12s kick-off the day against Perth at 9.00am. It’s already been a memorable winter for John Papadopolous’ youngsters with a Cup Final appearance to go with placing fourth in the league. But they’ll face a whole new type of challenge in the form of a Perth side which was without loss in 18 regular season games.
At 11.30am it’s the Under-16s that take to the field to play Subiaco AFC. Ian Morris’ Cup finalists won’t be short on confidence after ending the regular season in sensational style, bagging 28 goals in a six-game winning run that propelled them into third position. Subiaco, themselves unbeaten in seven games, placed second in their group.
The action continues at 12.00noon when the Under-14s pit skills with Perth, who boast the best attacking and defensive records in the age group. Inglewood completed the home and away series in fourth spot and a big effort will be required from coach Jude Pippen’s team to book in for the semi-finals.
