Teenager Teeboy Kamara bagged himself a brace to guide Inglewood United to just their second win of the National Premier Leagues season, 3-0 over visiting ECU Joondalup. The teams entered the break as they began but goals at either end of the season half by Kamara set-up the win before Ryan Clarke added a third for good measure.
Kamara, 17, was understandably thrilled with his match-winning double. “I’m happy to be back playing football and scoring goals is just a bonus,” said Kamara, who has been sidelined by an undisclosed medical condition for more than two years. “The coaches have been amazing, they keep encouraging me every time I make a mistake which is great because I’m still young and learning. I reckon I’ve picked the best club in Perth to play for.”
The first half was a dour affair dominated by a couple of well-drilled defensive units. David Sesay’s tireless efforts down the left produced the best opening of the period after 32 minutes but his teasing centre passed across the face of goal and was missed by everyone.
The deadlock was finally broken six minutes into the second half when Clarke, whose pace caused Joondalup problems all afternoon, slipped the ball through for Kamara to drill into the net. Kamara put away his second goal in the 83rd minute by skipping past goalkeeper Andy Banks and lashing into the net.
Clarke’s efforts were rewarded with a richly deserved goal four minutes from full-time. The win stretches Inglewood’s unbeaten run to five games and puts some much-needed distance between the club and the foot of the ladder. Joondalup, by contrast, slip down to third-from-bottom on the back of a four-game losing streak.
