KEOGH PLOTS REVENGE

2015_08_01_Inglewood_v_PerthGlory_5707Inglewood United won’t be lacking motivation when they encounter Floreat Athena this weekend according to striker Kenny Keogh. The last time the two teams met it was Floreat that came away with all the points courtesy of a 3-1 scoreline, a result that still haunts Keogh and which the Irishman is determined to reverse.

“Floreat didn’t deserve to win that game,” said Keogh, scorer of Inglewood’s solitary goal in that mid-May game. “They didn’t out play us – it was our own mistakes that cost us. We’ve learnt a lot about ourselves since that game and in recent weeks we have cut out those mistakes. Needless to say we’ll be looking to make things level this Sunday.”

Keogh warmed up for the impending clash with Floreat by grabbing Inglewood’s dramatic stoppage time winner against Perth Glory last weekend. “It was a good time to score, I’ve been creating a lot of chances recently but just didn’t get them to go in,” said the 27-year old finisher, who had gone eight weeks without hitting the back of the net.

“I thought we dominated the game, Glory resorted in long balls and trying to feed of our mistakes. The second half we pressed well, didn’t give them any chances and it showed good character to get the goal in the last minute. It was an important win, its gets us back to winning ways and allows us to move into the next game with more confidence.”

That game is against second-from-top Floreat. “It’s going to be a tough, intense game,” Keogh said. “Floreat are a good side, they’re not second in the league for nothing, but with the players we have there is no reason why we should not also be up there … I’m very confident we’ll get the result we want.” Inglewood takes on Floreat from 3:00pm on Sunday at Litis Stadium.
