MICEVSKI GIVES HIS ALL, FOR CLUB AND STATE

2015_08_01_Inglewood_v_PerthGlory_5594Midfielder David Micevski is looking forward to pulling on the gold and black of Western Australia once again. One of the stand-out performers this season for Inglewood United, 29-year old Micevski is in line to make his fourth appearance for West Australia after being named in coach Cris Ola’s squad for next week’s Call To Arms clash with Perth Glory.

“It’s always an honour to represent West Australia,” said Micevski, who is joined in the squad by teammates Jovo Pavlovic and Davis Sesay. “I’ve been fortunate enough to have been part of the State team on several occasions and I’m looking forward to playing with some of the State’s best players and doing our league proud.”

Micevski, a former Australia youth international, hasn’t looked back since linking with Inglewood on the eve of the home and away series. His experience and creativity in the middle of the park have cemented Micevski’s place in Michael Garcia’s first eleven, while his talent for finishing moves has reaped 5 goals in 13 appearances.

“I’ve been quite happy with my contribution so far this season,” said Micevski. “We have a great bunch of guys in the team, which is always a positive to have an enjoyable year. I’m hoping to finish the season off strong, score a few more goals and help Inglewood finish in the top five.”

That task continues this weekend when Inglewood hosts an out-of-sorts Armadale. The Reds are languishing second-from-bottom on the National Premier Leagues ladder, taking just three points from their last five outings and locked in a battle with Perth Glory to avoid the wooden spoon. “Armadale will be eager to finish the season well and avoid finishing bottom,” said Micevski.

“Admittedly, results haven’t gone our way of late but we have certainly been competitive, no matter who the opponent. If we finish our last four games strongly we should place in the top five which would be a vast improvement on last season. By playing to our strengths and taking our chances on Saturday we will get the three points.”

Inglewood pits skills with Armadale from 3:00pm this Saturday at Inglewood Stadium. The Call To Arms Cup clash between West Australia and Perth Glory takes place next Wednesday, 19 August, at Dorrien Gardens, kick-off is 7:30pm. All proceeds from the Calls To Arms Cup benefit the WA Cancer Council.
