MIGAS ENTHUSED BY PRE-SEASON SCHEDULE

2016_12_15_Inglewood_pre-season_training_1096Pre-season is not something too many footballers look forward to but John Migas admits he is happy to be back on the training track.   Inglewood United’s players have been hard at work over the past six weeks in preparation for the fast-approaching Night Series which, for Taki Nicolaidis’ team, commences on the final weekend of the month.

Migas, who turns 32 tomorrow, is evidently glad to be back in the fold.   “It’s great to get back into training,” Migas said.   “Everyone is very focused and after going so close (to winning the league) last year, we’re all determined to work that extra bit harder to win some silverware in 2017.”

“Training has so far involved a lot of fitness work – which was expected – but Taki has stepped it up a notch or two this pre-season.   It’s going to be a longer than normal season with two teams coming into the league so depth and fitness are going to be vital, especially when we get towards the tail end of the season.”

“There’s not a great deal of change to our squad, the core group have stuck together so there is plenty of experience, and it’s great to have some youth join our slightly ageing team.   We’ve got a lot of competition for every position which means no one has a safe spot in the starting eleven, which is always a good sign.”

“We have a couple scratch matches coming up which we’ll use to get our match fitness up and make sure we’re ready for the Night Series.   From what I’m hearing there are still a couple of inclusions to come into the squad so I’m looking forward to seeing how our side will shape up when we get to the start of the season proper.”
