Versatile midfielder John Migas commemorated his first winter with Inglewood United by winning the clubs’ top prize, the Fairest and Best player for 2016. A bumper crowd was in attendance at Saturday’s Gala Ball, held at the Inglewood Stadium Clubhouse, to celebrate the season that was for Inglewood.
Migas, a regular fixture of the midfield throughout the winter, set his sail early with a string of eye-catching displays across the opening rounds of the home and away series. The race for the Fairest and Best was effectively over by the season mid-point with Migas holding a sizeable lead over his teammates.
When counting finished Migas, who started 20 of 22 National Premier Leagues games, had tallied up 88 votes to take out the Fairest and Best award. Towering defender Adam Tong collected the Fairest and Best Runner-Up trophy with Jason Barrera in third place.
A dozen goals in National Premier Leagues competition earned Brian Woodall the Golden Boot. Woodall’s contribution was also recognised by his peers in the form of the Players’ Player of the Year. Josh Pereira collect the Physio’s Award and the Siggy Kramer Club Person Award was presented to Brett Klucznik.
Teenager Alex Ishida-Living will look back on his first season with Inglewood with great fondness after taking out the Rising Star Award along with the Under-20s Fairest and Best. Lachlan Ryan placed Runner-Up in the main award with Jacob Flores scoring the Golden Boot.
The Under-18s Fairest and Best went home with midfielder Tyler Garner, who earlier this month celebrated his 16th birthday. Jack Lavis was a worthy recipient of the Fairest and Best Runner-Up. Nicholas Challot’s eight regular season finishes earned him the Golden Boot.
