MURPHY: WE’RE STARTING TO FIND FORM

Versatile right-sided player Jamie Murphy believes his team are coming into peak form at exactly the right time of the season.   A six-game unbeaten run has propelled Inglewood United into fourth on the National Premier Leagues ladder and closed the gap on top spot to six points.

With eight regular season games remaining, Murphy says Inglewood could not have timed their run better.  “Everyone is coming into their own at the moment,” commented Murphy, who turned 20 this week.   “We are all doing our individual jobs as best we can and the rest is taking care of itself.”

“From defenders to strikers, everyone has been a lot more brave on the ball and that’s creating more opportunities.   The effort the players and coaches have been putting in for the last seven months has been immense and we’re now starting to see that reflected in our results.”

Inglewood will be looking to extended their unbeaten run when they travel to Sorrento tomorrow.   The Gulls have done it tough so far this season and are currently fighting for top flight survival, sitting tenth on a ladder that has seven teams within three points of the relegation zone.

Despite Sorrento’s lowly ranking, Murphy is acutely aware of how dangerous the northern suburbs side can be on their day.   “Sorrento away is always a tricky game,” he said.   “They play with a lot of passion and have players that can really hurt us if given the chance.”

“We will pay them the respect they deserve but we’ll be looking to get on top early and take it from there.   The three points are very important if we want to continue our route to the top, at the end of the season every point will count in the race for the league title.”
