NICOLAIDIS APPOINTED FIRST TEAM COACH

Inglewood United is delighted to confirm the appointment of Taki Nicolaidis as our new first team coach.   Nicolaidis, arguably one of the most popular and best credentialed coaches in the National Premier Leagues, joined the club as an assistant coach in November and emerged as the natural choice for the top job following last week’s departure of Michael Garcia.

“In Taki I believe we have a coach who will embrace and develop the style of play we associate with our Club,” said president Ces Colli.   “He has a proven ability to develop each player as an individual, whilst building great team spirit and a winning mentality.   We have a talented squad that Taki is excited to be coaching.”

Nicolaidis built his coaching reputation at Floreat Athena, helping that club to Premier League, State Cup and Night Series glory during an eight-year spell.   He guided Perth SC’s Under-20 team to three trophies in two years before taking the helm of the first team, who he steered to second position in each of the two recent NPL seasons.

As a player, Nicolaidis enjoyed a successful 17-year career that took in time with Floreat Athena, Perth Kangaroos (S-League), Western Knights and Inglewood amongst others.   Along the way he collected three League championships plus three State Cup, two Top Four Cup and one Night Series winner’s medals.   Additionally, Nicolaidis represented the State on four occasions.
