Defender Mark Barnett has welcomed the appointment of Andres Oliveira as first team coach. Oliveira, 37, accepted the coaching role earlier this week, only days before Inglewood United kick-off the 2019 National Premier Leagues at home to near-neighbours Bayswater City.
Barnett, who returned to Inglewood over the summer, says Oliveira has already had a re-energising effect on the squad. “Andres is a great appointment for Inglewood,” Barnett commented. “The lads know every position is now up for grabs and we need to use that fight and competition to kick start our season.”
“The boys were already buzzing for the first game of the league, and even more so now after a couple of sharp, intense sessions on the training track with a new gaffer. We couldn’t be more ready to start the campaign against one of the favourites for the league in Bayswater.”
“It’s an early test for us but it couldn’t come at a better time. Personally, I feel we have a squad that can do some serious damage this season, and the Top Four is something well within our reach if we stick together as a unit, perform as we know we can and grind out results when needed.”
