Summer recruit Sammie Riak is enjoying life at Inglewood United and working with coach Trim Morgan. The defensive midfielder, who has started all three of the teams Night Series games and contributing two goals assists, is happy with how he is settling in at the club.
“I’m enjoying how things are going for me,” Riak, 20, said of this time at Inglewood. “I’m loving training, getting to know the lads and developing an understanding with them and also the way the gaffer (Trim Morgan) want us to play football this season.”
“The gaffer has been fantastic since the first day. He’s a great coach with clear ideas of how he wants his team play football so he has been drilling his methods into us during training sessions… it’s great to have a coach like him coaching us.”
That style of play has Inglewood unbeaten after three Night Series outings. Riak and his teammates will be out to extend that run this evening when they face an ECU Joondalup side fresh from dispensing Stirling Lions 6-1 in the twilight game at Frank Drago Reserve.
“Joondalup are always a difficult side to play, just like every other team in the National Premier Leagues,” Riak commented. “They have a lot of quality all over the park and they’re looking quite dangerous with the way they’re playing at the moment, especially with their front three firing.”
“However, our focus is solely on ourselves going into the game in terms of the way we want to play as a team. It’s important we get the maximum result to give ourselves the best chance of going through to the semi-finals as we want to be in the finals of every tournament this season.”
