SCHOOLBOYS HONOURS FOR GODFREY AND MUSTAFA

2014_03_15_Inglewood_v_Sorrento_0462_620x315Inglewood United’s Josiah Godfrey and Jacoub Mustafa have been named in the West Australian Schoolboys squad for November’s School Sport Australia Pacific School Games. The duo continues our proud history of supporting the State under-19 team by taking to seventeen the number of Inglewood players to gain Schoolboys selection since 2000.

“The State Schoolboys provides an opportunity for our young players to compete on a national stage which will ultimately benefit their development and our clubs,” said Goran Stajic, Technical Director. “Tours such as this allow the players to assess themselves against other quality opposition and be exposed to different playing styles provided by the states.”

Godfrey is coming off a strong season between the posts for the Under-18s and, earlier this year, was part of our youth team which played three games in Spain. “JJ is the last line of defence in the Under-18s and I wouldn’t have it any other way,” said Stajic. “It’s no surprise he has been selected to wear State Schoolboys colours.”

Mustafa enjoyed a sensational year which he started with the Under-18s and ended by making his first team debut. “Jacoub is a versatile outfield player who can turn the game on its head,” commented Stajic. “He possesses a natural flair which has been recognised by all at the club, and it’s pleasing to see that it has also been seen at State level.”

Adelaide will host the 2016 School Sport Australia Pacific School Games, which commences on 20 November. With nine sports on show, it is expected over 4,000 competitors will take in the ten-day event. Next year’s School Sport Australia Pacific School Games are to be held in Perth.
