SILLY MISTAKES HAVE COST US: COLLI

2017_03_18_Inglewood_vs_Mandurah_2521Long-serving defender Jason Colli has vowed to rule out the “silly errors” which are costing Inglewood United valuable points, not to mention a position amongst the National Premier Leagues leaders.   Inglewood had to be content with a share of the points on Saturday after surrendering an early lead to draw 1-1 with Balcatta.

It’s the second successive week that Inglewood have been first on the scoreboard only to allow the opposition back in and gain a draw.   Colli is acutely aware of how much those dropped points have hurt his sixth-placed team, which sits two points outside the top four and are eight points adrift of top-of-the-table Floreat Athena.

“As a team we have conceded more than we would have liked but over the last few weeks we have been a lot stronger defensively and the only things costing us now are silly errors,” Colli said.   “If we can eradicate those mistakes and stop conceding easy goals then we’ll start turning those draws into wins.”

“Lucky for us we still have over half the season left to play.   There’s not a lot of points between second and eight on the ladder and it’s only going to take a few wins to get us up near the top.   We’ve got a talented squad and we are more than capable of putting together a run which will have us climb the ladder.”
