SKILL ACQUISITION PROGRAM HAS FIORUCCI EXCITED

2018_05_27_Tony_Fiorucci_04161Tony Fiorucci is looking forward to helping shape the future of Inglewood United following his appointment as our inaugural Skill Acquisition Program Trainer.    Fiorucci, a ‘C’ Licence holder with seven years coaching experience, will run the club’s in-house SAP program, which kicked off earlier this week.

“I’m excited about being appointed SAP trainer at Inglewood United,” Fiorucci commented.   “I’ve learnt so much about coaching, especially working with (Under-13s coach) Hung Huynh in the National Premier Leagues system.   I’m very much looking forward to the SAP role as this is where my coaching strengths lie.”

SAP provides a platform for players aged 9 to 12 to develop technical skills outlined in Football Federation Australia’s National Curriculum.   The program focuses on the development of the four core skills – striking the ball, first touch, one vs one and running with the ball.

“SAP is a very important part of a young footballers’ development,” Fiorucci added.   “I’ll focus exclusively on providing a solid foundation in the four core skills which cover 95% of any outfield players’ actions when in possession of the ball.   Every session will focus on one of these core skills.”

“This program will give our Miniroo players the additional contact during the week to position themselves for the transition into our Junior NPL teams.   Inglewood’s development plan provides young players the opportunity to play at the highest level possible as well as make them life-long fans of the game.”

“While SAP is designed to develop the footballer, the program also nurtures the individual by encouraging leadership, teamwork and work ethic.   These are important skills for players to learn for the football pitch as well as throughout their life and future careers.”
