Inglewood United enjoyed a comfortable 3-0 win over Division One side South West Phoenix in this afternoon’s FFA Cup encounter at Hay Park, Bunbury. A first half goal from Brian Woodall sent Inglewood on their way with Kenny Keogh and substitute Tim Robertson netting after the break to secure their safe passage into the next round.
“The squad put in a solid performance over the full 90 minutes,” said coach Taki Nicolaidis, who was pleased with the way his players backed up Saturday’s league win at Balcatta. “Whilst Bunbury worked very hard and made us earn the win, I always felt that we had had control of the game and created the better chances.”
“What was most pleasing was the character we showed to play two games in three days. It was tough on Saturday. To travel two-hours south to play a fresh Bunbury outfit and then to run out a strong 90 minutes has shown me signs of how focussed our group is to do well this year.”
