Inglewood United congratulates Alex Salmon, Jason Barrera and Matthew Ntoumenopoulos on their inclusion in the West Australian squad for upcoming friendlies against Australia and Singapore’s Under-20 National teams. The trio are among 26-players selected for the Tri-Series Tournament, which commences on Wednesday 2nd August when West Australia plays the Young Socceroos at Perth Plasterboard Centre Stadium.
Salmon is without a doubt the standout finisher of 2017. The 23-year old has been keeping defences on high alert from the moment he linked with Inglewood on the eve of the regular season. To date he has put away 24 goals in just 22 appearances, while his creativity has led to many a goal for team mates. This is Salmon’s first State team called-up.
Barrera, 29, has been a key member of Inglewood’s engine room across the past two seasons. A silky-skilled midfielder, he possesses an uncanny knack of opening up defences courtesy with his superb ball control and precision delivery. Barrera has played for Inglewood on 54 occasions but he’ll wear State team colours for the first time.
Ntoumenopoulos, an Australian youth international, has made a dream return to football following a 16-month lay-off due to injury. Promoted to the starting line-up early in April, he is the architect behind the fourteen-game unbeaten run which has put Inglewood on top of the National Premier Leagues. This is 21-year old Ntoumenpoulos’ first call-up for State duty.
