Central midfielder Miki Vujacic insists he is enjoying himself despite seeing limited playing time. The 34-year old was drafted into the Inglewood United squad over the summer but has had to be patient in his pursuit of first team opportunities with the likes of Jason Barrera and Ellis Healing ahead of him in the pecking order.
Vujacic has just three starts amongst his eleven appearances so far this season, prompting speculation that he could be on the move during this month’s transfer window. However, Vujacic insists he is happy at Inglewood and has vowed to continue working towards a permanent place in Keogh’s first eleven.
“Most players want to play 90 minutes week in week out and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t the same,” commented Vujacic, who has started two of the last three games. “But given the quality we have in the squad I’m pretty content with the game time I’ve been getting, especially lately.”
“It’s a very hard eleven to get into, and an even harder one to keep your spot in. Each week someone has missed out and it’s usually a player who would normally be in the starting line-up at any other club in the league … that shows how much quality we have at Inglewood.”
“But I was aware of this before I signed with Inglewood. I had opportunities to go elsewhere where I would have been playing week in week out, but I wanted the challenge of fighting for my spot in a competitive team in the hope of winning some silverware.”
“I want to play more, and play consistently, so I’ll be working hard and will be pushing everyone around me to help this team win as many games as possible. We want to be challenging for the title and with the players we have we are more than capable of doing that.”
