New recruit Slobodan Vulin recognises he has a challenge on his hands to hold onto his place in the Inglewood United line-up. A former Perth Glory Youth player, Vulin linked up with Inglewood a fortnight ago and on the weekend made his first appearance under Taki Nicolaidis in the National Premier Leagues win at Subiaco AFC.
Although pleased with his Inglewood debut, Vulin says he is still settling in at the club and getting to know his new teammates. “I was happy how it went,” the 20-year old attacking midfielder said of Saturday’s game. “We left with the three points and it was nice to help out with an assist (on Calum O’Connell’s match-winning goal).”
“It was my first game at this level in almost three months so there’s a little way to go before Inglewood start seeing me at my best. I’ll keep working as hard as I can to bring the sort of consistency to my game that I’ll be happy with and also to be on the same wave length as my teammates.”
Vulin began at the National Training Centre before spending four seasons with Glory Youth. Along the way he played over 50 games for the development squad and last year was rewarded with a place on the bench for Glory’s FFA Cup quarter-final clash with Newcastle Jets. A short stint with Bayswater City preceded this month’s move to Inglewood.
“The welcome I’ve received throughout the entire Inglewood club has been tip-top,” he said. “Everyone at the club has really taken me as one of the family. Taki invited me to join Inglewood, he’s an ambitious coach who expects the best from his players and I’ll be doing everything I can to repay the faith that he has shown in me.”
