WALLIS SIGNS UP

2016_06_08_Scott_WallisNew recruit Scott Wallis says he could not have received a warmer welcome than that he’s experienced on joining Inglewood United.   Wallis, 19, has spent the past couple of weeks getting to know his new team mates after committing to base himself at Inglewood Stadium for the second half of the season.

“I’m really enjoying being here, the welcome I’ve got from the players, coaches and the club has been great,” Wallis said.   “I’ve worked with Taki (Nicolaidis), Richie (Abrams) and Dave (Whalley) previously and knowing that I’d be working with them again made the opportunity to join Inglewood all that more appealing.”

“The players are a great bunch of lads, I know a few of the lads from when I was at Perth SC and it’s been great to meet some new boys.   Inglewood as a club is going in the right direction and for me to develop as much as I can Inglewood is the right place for me.”

Born in England, Wallis first played the world game at the age of seven and steadily rose up through the youth ranks at Joondalup City.   He switched to Perth in 2014 and the following year gained his National Premier Leagues debut at the age of 18.   For the past twelve months Wallis has worn ECU Joondalup colours.

Wallis will start his time at Inglewood as second choice shot-stopper behind Alex Dunn, however, he’s determined to do what he can to convince the coaching team that he deserves a go between the posts.   “My goal at the moment is to keep working at my game and to develop as a player,” he commented.

“But I’ve not joined Inglewood to sit on the bench – I want to be playing first team.   Every training session and every game is an opportunity for me to show the coaches what I can do and give them something to think about when it comes to selecting Inglewood’s first eleven.”
