WE CAN COMPETE AT THE TOP LEVEL: KEOGH

2018_04_21_Inglewood_vs_Forrestfield_9678Attacker Kenny Keogh believes the past week could prove to be the seasons’ turning point.   Inglewood United climbed into the National Premier Leagues top five for the first time this year on Wednesday evening following a dramatic 3-2 win over inner city rivals Perth SC.

The success came hot on the heels of Saturday’s 2-1 defeat of Perth Glory, who entered that game on top of the competition leader board.   “Glory and Perth both provided a good challenge,” Keogh said.   “They were right up there at the top of the ladder and we fought hard to get the win in both games.”

“It’s been a long time coming but those performances and results show we can compete at the top level.   We knew that before but we weren’t getting the wins, we were drawing games.   We are starting to find our balance, we’ve got a good squad and our confidence is building.”

Inglewood can continue their revival on Saturday when they face cellar dwellers Joondalup United under lights at Percy Doyle Reserve.   The northern suburbs outfit may be winless after eleven games but Keogh says that will be no reason Inglewood ease off and drop their intensity.

“It’s always a hard place to get a result from, and especially so at the end of a very busy week,” Keogh said.   “Joondalup are bottom of the ladder but there’s no chance of us relaxing and taking them lightly.   We’ve had a couple of hard games but we’ve had a little rest and now we’re ready to go again.”
