WE’RE BETTER THAN WE’VE SHOWN: ISHIDA-LIVINGS

Alex Ishida-Livings has every confidence Inglewood United will put their spluttering start to the new season behind them sooner rather than later.   Inglewood heads to Floreat Athena this weekend sitting seventh on the National Premier Leagues ladder after picking up two wins and three wins from their opening seven games.

That record that is almost identical to the one Inglewood held at the same stage of last season, when a stunning revival propelled them up the ladder and to within a whisker of top spot at the completion of the home and away series.   The similarities between the now and the then are not lost on Ishida-Livings.

“Last year we had a similarly slow start before dominating the second half of the season,” said the 20-year old defender, now in his third season at the club.   “We are confident in our abilities, we are a better team than we have shown and we are optimistic of returning to the top four soon.”

“Obviously we’re all very disappointed with how things have gone so far.   We set our expectations high at the beginning of the year so to only have nine points from seven games is simply not good enough.   However, we have the tools necessary to return to winning form, it’s just a matter of putting it all together.”

“We’ve been working hard in training this week with the goal of kick starting our season with a win on Sunday.   The slump we are in has gone on for too long and we have to turn things around quickly if we want to win the league, which is what we set out to achieve this year.”
