WOODALL “DISAPPOINTED” WITH GOAL-A-GAME RECORD

2016_02_13_Inglewood_v_Bayswater_7299He may be the in-form striker of the Night Series but Brian Woodall is not overly happy with how his tournament is panning out.   Woodall has put Inglewood United on the cusp of the semi-finals by scoring in each of the team’s four games to date, however, the strongly built finisher feels he could have done better.

“I’ve scored four goals in four games but, to be honest, I’m a little disappointed with that as I know I should have found the back of the net a few more times,” said Woodall, a former English League professional with Dagenham and Redbridge.   “This year has been good so far.   I’m settled at Inglewood and I’m enjoying my football again.”

It’s all a far cry from last year when Woodall, a regular scorer for English clubs Gresley FC, Dagenham and Bishop’s Stortford, struggled to make his mark on the local scene.   An initial six-month spell with Stirling Lions was spoiled by niggling injuries before a mid-season switch to Inglewood saw him go goalless in eight appearances.

“Last season was hit-and-miss,” said 28-year old Woodall.   “I was enjoying the lifestyle here which meant I was over-weight and I really wasn’t playing anywhere near my best.   On top of that, I broke my toe in my first game for Inglewood.   But all that is behind me now, I’m feeling good about myself and looking forward to the season.”

“Taki Nicolaidis has developed a strong bond with the players and I like how he wants to us to play.   We’ve got a great bunch of lads that, regardless of who we’re playing, apply what we have been working on in training.   We know if we do that and work hard for each other the rest will look after itself.”
