ZAW TO RESUME FOLLOWING INJURY LAY-OFF

2017_08_12_Inglewood_vs_Cockburn_5591Midfielder Feisal Zaw will be doing everything he can this week to earn a place in Andy Keogh’s line-up for Saturday’s home fixture with ECU Joondalup.   The versatile 22-year old has been sidelined by injury since making a late appearance off the bench against Subiaco AFC a month ago.

Zaw, who scored on debut for Inglewood United last May, has been putting the hours in on the training track of late and feels he is now ready again for first team football.   “I suffered a groin strain at training recently,” Zaw explained.   “And it got worse after playing reserves against Baywater City, in hindsight I should have rested.”

“I took a week off training to focus on strengthening exercises to get myself right and have been on the bike to keep my fitness up.   Last week I was able to do straight line running at full speed – pain-free! – which was good news.   I need to keep at it and hopefully I’ll be back for this weekend’s game with Joondalup.”

“I hate missing games, it really puts you on the back foot in terms of fitness and from an injury prevention perspective.   If you’re not getting consistent training and game situations into your legs, then you can’t do that 90th minute dash.   I’ve got to work extra hard to catch up to the boys and work my way back up the pecking order.”
