FARRELL TAKES BIG PICTURE VIEW

2019_01_06_Inglewood_pre-season_training_5015Preparation for this evening’s make-or-break fixture with Perth SC has been no different to any other game according to utility Brian Farrell.   Inglewood United head into their final group stage game of the Night Series knowing they must claim victory over Perth to qualifying for the semi-finals.

But the equation isn’t quite that simple as Inglewood’s progression also relies on results elsewhere going to in their favour.   “We will approach the game positively and try to control what we can control and put in a good performance,” commented Farrell.

“Not a whole lot changed in regards to our approach.   It’s another chance for our new-look team to play 90 minutes together and prepare for the season ahead.   A win is a must for us to advance, and that would be nice, but the game is more about getting us ready for the league season.”

Farrell is acutely aware that getting the better of a Perth side that has three wins from Night Series four outings won’t be easy an easy task.   “Perth are always in contention for silverware,” he said.   “They have a strong core of players that have been together for a while and are well drilled.”

“We will be confident going into tonight’s game as our squad continues to take shape and we have been able to work on a few things through training.   I’m sure our hard work on the training pitch will translate onto the playing field and the result will take care of itself.”
