Inglewood Stadium renamed to honour local connection

The stadium on the Inglewood United Football Club grounds has undergone a name change to be more identifiable to the public.

Formerly known as the Perth Plasterboard Stadium, it will now be known as Inglewood Stadium.

Club President Cesare Colli said the club had a renewed focus this year of inviting more community members to the club and to be part of the action. This is a well-timed stadium name change with the club celebrating 70 years of operation.

“With a large influx of new members from the local community this year, we wanted to pay homage to our local roots and make sure our stadium was easily identifiable,” Mr Colli said.

“As a community-based soccer club, we provide sporting and social opportunities for local residents. We couldn’t think of a better way of honouring that community connection than to rename our stadium to Inglewood Stadium.

“We are really proud to have been part of this community for the past 70 years and want to make sure locals feel involved and included.”

Inglewood United Football Club plans to host several events this year which the community will be invited to attend. This includes the club’s 70th anniversary celebration after the football season concludes. The club is currently seeking memorabilia and photographs. Do you have anything to share?
