Inglewood United congratulates Alex Salmon, Brian Woodall, Ellis Healing and Scott Robertson on gaining selection to represent Western Australian in this week’s Challenge Cup game against Perth Glory. The quartet are among a 19-player squad selected by State coach Jamie Harnwell for Thursday’s friendly at Dalmatinac Park.
Salmon kept defences on high alert from the moment he stepped onto the park in late March. The lively 24-year old Englishman put away 17 goals in 21 appearances during his second winter with Inglewood, while his creativity led to countless opportunities for those around him. Salmon has played for the State on three occasions, scoring three goals.
Woodall had the honour of featuring in all 28 games played by Inglewood in 2018. Comfortable on the left wing, as a central striker or in roving role in behind that, the 31-year old has shown some nimble footwork and a keen eye for goal throughout his four seasons at the club. Although Woodall has played 88 times for Inglewood, he is yet to wear State team colours.
Healing, 24, quickly became an integral part of the engine room after linking with Inglewood on the eve of the home and away series. A hard-working midfielder, he possesses a talent for opening up defences while his dead ball delivery is amongst the best in the league. Born in England, Healing is in line for his State team debut.
Robertson’s take-no-prisoner’s approach has made him one of the most feared defenders in the National Premier Leagues. The 21-year old endured something of a mixed debut with Inglewood with injury and trials in Scotland limiting him to just 14 outings. Robertson has played for the State at youth level but this is his first senior call-up.
