Under-13s coach Hung Huynh has praised on his players following their sparkling success at the Country Coastal Junior Soccer Association Carnival.   Inglewood United’s starlets won five and drew one of their six games at the weekend tournament to lift the Under-13 Bunbury Cup.

“The boys played some very good football over a gruelling schedule that saw them play six games in two days,” Huynh commented.   “There were some tired and sore bodies at the end, but the boys weren’t complaining … it was great to have them back playing competitive football after three weeks off.”

Inglewood’s campaign opened with back-to-back defeats of Ellenbrook United (2-1) and Quinns FC (1-0) before settling for a share of the points with Stirling Lions (2-2).   Further wins over Sorrento (1-0) and Joondalup United (2-1) sent them through to the Final where they downed Bayswater City 4-3 on penalties.

“The tournament provided us with a platform to try some new ideas with some positive outcomes,” said Huynh.   “The growing football maturity within the playing group in terms of tactical understanding and a willingness to adopt and execute our playing style was very pleasing to observe.”

“We are seeing an emerging group of leaders coming through and at the same time individuals who can influence and change a game … where the boys finished in the Bunbury Cup is a great starting point for our 2019 National Premier Leagues season.”
