New recruit Feisal Zaw admits that his Inglewood United debut was an occasion he will remember for a long time. Zaw, signed last week from National Premier Leagues rivals Balcatta last week, came off the bench on Saturday with half an hour remaining to score Inglewood’s third goal in a 4-1 defeat of neighbouring Bayswater City.
“I was super-happy with my first game for Inglewood,” commented 21-year old Zaw, who benefitted from Brian Woodall’s inch-perfect delivery on 83 minutes to score on debut for his new club. “It was good to get on the end of Brian’s cross to tap in a goal too … I really can’t have asked for much more from my debut.”
“The nerves had me a bit early on, I started slowly and had a few bad touches but eventually I settled. It will take me a bit of time to really get used to playing with some of the boys and to adjust to how the team plays. But it was a good start, we got the win and that’s what it all about.”
Comfortable playing an attacking role wide on the right or left, Zaw has no doubt the learning environment at Inglewood will make him a better player. “Inglewood is the right club for me at this stage of my football career,” said the former Cockburn City and Balcatta player.
“I want to play at the highest level I can and with the best team in the league. The quality of players throughout in the Inglewood squad is evident, training is of a high standard and the level of competition within for player group will make sure I’m on my toes and developing as a player.”
“It’s hard being the new player at training but everyone – the players, coaching staff and backroom team – have been very welcoming and warm. And when you that sort of support and encouragement around you it makes you want to perform to your best for the team and the club.”
