ENCOURAGING DEVELOPMENT THROUGH ACTIVE PLAY

2015_12_15_Inglewood_Football_Institute_6748The Inglewood Football Institute provides an ideal environment for young children to learn and develop through physical activity.   Established in 2013, the Institute offers age-appropriate coaching to boys and girls aged between 3 and 15 years old in line with Football Federation Australia’s National Curriculum, with a focus on controlled ball possession and attacking football.

The program encourages learning through active play within the context of the individual.   “The underlying principle is the development of basic motor skills with the child’s state of physical, psychological and social development in mind,” said Institute coordinator Scott Richardson.   “The aim is to give children a good physical and social foundation to start both football and general sports skill training.”

“Our weekly sessions offer young children the opportunity to develop their motor skills and build their technical ability at age appropriate level, following FFA’s National Curriculum.   Coaching is focused on creating a child who is motivated, confident and has a positive experience with and attitude towards football, and physical activity in general.”

The focus for ages 3 to 11 is on Fun, Activity, Safety and Teaching – aka FAST.   Those aged 12 to 15 participate in the PASS program where the emphasis is on Passion, Attitude, Sacrifice and Success.   These attributes enhance player development in a non-competitive environment and bring into focus the individuals skill set and growth.
