Defender Jamie Murphy says there are plenty of positives to be taken from the weekend draw with Sorrento.   Inglewood United opened their Night Series campaign on Friday by playing out an entertaining yet goalless draw with the Gulls on home soil.

Murphy, 20, believes his teams strong performance bodes well for the coming season.   “I was happy with how we played and we can take a lot from the game, even though it was disappointing to come out with only the one point,” the left-back commented.

“We played some good football in patches and moved the ball very well.   There were spells when we were under the pump where we held strong and didn’t get on each other’s back.   Plus we maintained a good intensity – even in the later stages of the game – which shows that collectively we are quite fit.”

“There are good signs off the pitch also with the new signings fitting right in and moral is good throughout the squad.   We’ll hit the training track this week to prepare for playing Stirling Lions in the second round of the Night Series on Friday.   They’re a good side so it will be another tough test for us.”
