WE WERE A BIT UNLUCKY: ISHIDA-LIVINGS

2019_01_19_Inglewood_vs_Ashfield_5247Inglewood United were unlucky not to pick up their first Night Series win on the weekend according to defender Alex Ishida-Livings.   A second half penalty converted by Chok Dau earned Inglewood their second draw in as many weeks as Stirling Lions held on to score a 1-1 on Friday.

Dau appeared to have snared a second goal – and what would have been the game decider – but match officials ruled his late strike did not cross the line before being cleared, amid claims to the contrary.   “We were a bit unlucky not to have got the win Friday night,” commented Ishida-Livings.

“It was a tight game and we showed great character to battle back from one-nil down at half-time.   Although we didn’t create a lot of chances we’re all pretty confident that Chok scored in the last few minutes of the game.   Unfortunately, the ref didn’t believe the ball crossed the line so we had to settle for a draw.”

Despite being winless from two games, Ishida-Livings is happy with how the team are tracking for the approaching winter.   “We’re displaying some positive signs heading towards the start of the league season, but there are aspects of our game we need to improve on,” he conceded.

“Thankfully, it is still early days.   We’ve got a new coach in Trim Morgan and we have made quite a few changes to our squad.   As a group we are still adjusting to Trim’s tactics and to each other as players.   Once that happens I’m sure we’ll produce much more consistent performances.”
