CYRUS HIGHLIGHTS IMPORTANCE OF COCKBURN CLASH

Defender David Cyrus has highlighted the significance of this weekend’s visit to Cockburn City.   Inglewood United journeys south on Saturday in search of their first points of the 2019 National Premier Leagues after going down to Bayswater City on the opening day of the new season.

“Coming away from Cockburn with three points would be brilliant,” Cyrus commented.   “After the loss to Bayswater it is important that we don’t let that effect our confidence and ability to go on and beat any team in this league.”

“We will need to take our chances if we are to get a result at Cockburn.   When you come up against the better teams in the league it’s all about taking your chances as they may not come around often.   If we can do that then the rest will follow.”

Cyrus, who was overseas when the club switched coach earlier this month, believes the squad have responded well to the appointment of Andres Oliveira.   “The lads are in great spirits, especially after getting the news that Andreas was going to be the new gaffer moving forward,” he said.

“Andres is a familiar face and majority of players know what he is about, which will help with the transition of managers.   All the lads have stayed positive and worked hard on not getting distracted by things off the field by focusing on the job at hand.”
